The first months of the new U-OV have not gone well. As a traveler, you too often faced canceled trips, delays, and an unpredictable schedule. Our drivers worked under great pressure because the timetable was unstable. Until now, we have not been able to improve this enough. We sincerely apologize for this.

We are still working hard to make U-OV more predictable and reliable. Therefore, we will implement several changes soon in two areas: Utrecht Inner (Utrecht and immediately surrounding municipalities) and Utrecht Outer (Amersfoort and the western and eastern parts of the province).

U-OV Compensation
Due to the frequently unpredictable timetable, we are temporarily expanding our 'compensation for delay or cancellation' scheme. We understand it's frustrating when your trip takes much longer than planned or does not go at all, especially if this happens often. This temporary scheme applies to trips from March 1 to May 31, 2026More information can be found here.

From Sunday, April 5 – Utrecht Outer – adjusted schedule
Due to a shortage of drivers and complex schedules, too many trips are still canceled. Particularly at the depots in Amersfoort and Wijk bij Duurstede, this regularly causes gaps in the timetable. This is inconvenient for you as a traveler because a trip sometimes cancels unexpectedly when you counted on it.

From April 5, we will temporarily adjust the timetable on several bus lines in Utrecht Outer. This reduces the pressure on our drivers and equipment. On certain lines, buses will run less often: about 9% fewer buses in total. We expect this will restore a reliable timetable.
Below you will find an overview of all bus lines where we adjust the timetable. The changes mainly affect city lines in Amersfoort and bus lines toward Wijk bij Duurstede. These lines currently have the most cancellations.

Although we will run fewer services now, Utrecht Outer will still have about 5% more buses than in 2025. The lines below will also not run less frequently than in 2025.

Step by step forward
We will continue to take necessary steps to make our services more reliable in the coming period. As the schedule stabilizes, we can also work on improving and gradually expanding the U-OV timetable.
