U-OV Travel Guidelines

U-OV Travel Guidelines

A pleasant journey isn't just about guidelines, but above all about understanding and respecting each other. You want to travel comfortably, safely and relaxed. We completely understand that. That's why we do everything we can to make your ride as smooth as possible.

To ensure that you and our colleagues feel comfortable on the road, we've drawn up a number of travel guidelines. You can find them on our buses and trams. Below, we’ve listed them clearly for you.

If everyone shows a little consideration for each other, we'll travel together safely, comfortably and without unnecessary hassle.

Reisregels

Travel with a valid ticket

So you can be sure you’re in the right place, both literally and figuratively. And don’t forget to check in and out. Some tickets, such as a personal OV-chipcard with a subscription, must also be in your name. If there is any doubt, our staff members may therefore ask to see your ID.

Smoking or vaping is not allowed

For a pleasant and healthy environment for everyone, smoking and vaping are also prohibited at stops and platforms.

Eating or drinking is not allowed

We like to keep it clean and pleasant for all passengers. The (strong) odors, stains, and mess can cause inconvenience to others. However, feel free to drink bottled water.

Feet on the floor, not on the seat

This keeps the seat clean for the next passenger. Much appreciated!

Put your waste in the bin

Together, we keep the vehicles clean. It's a small effort, but it makes a big difference.

Keep the volume low. Use earphones

Give your fellow travelers a relaxing journey too. Therefore, use your earphones and keep the volume of (phone) conversations low.

Respect eachothers' privacy. Ask permission for photos or videos

Not everyone wants to be filmed or photographed. Therefore, always ask if it's okay.

Alcohol or drug is not allowed in vehicles, at stops, and on platforms.

For everyone's safety and comfort. We'll keep things sober and tidy.

No bikes and buses

Non-electric folding bikes are allowed when folded. Read more >>

A few tips to make traveling easier:

  • Raise your hand when the bus approaches. This lets the driver know you want to get on.
  • Is it dark? Use your phone’s light to make yourself visible. This way, the driver can see you and will gladly pick you up. Please make sure not to blind our drivers.
  • Give other passengers space when they are exiting the bus.
  • Free up a seat for passengers with disabilities, elderly people, pregnant travelers and small children.
  • For your child’s safety: have them remain seated during the ride whenever possible. This helps prevent falls during an unexpected stop.
  • Keep your ticket/card ready when boarding and exiting. This way, we can make sure the bus stays on schedule.
