Taking your bike on our buses or trams? Here’s what you need to know

We want everyone to travel safely and smoothly. That’s why regular bicycles are not allowed on the bus. They cannot be properly secured and are dangerous in turns.

Folding bike: convenient and welcome (outside peak hours)
Bringing a folded folding bike is allowed on the bus, but only outside peak hours. Please note:

  • The folding bike must always be folded.
  • Keep it near your seat or secure it firmly in the wheelchair space.
  • The driver will check if it’s safe to bring the folding bike. In some situations, they may decide it’s not possible, for example during busy periods.

Travelling with mobility aids

Traveling with a wheelchair

If you use a wheelchair, you can travel with us without any worries. Before your journey, please check whether the stops where you plan to get on and off, are wheelchair accessible. You can do this via the U-OV travel planner or 9292 by choosing the option ‘Plan an accessible journey’. From 14 December 2025, all stops in Amersfoort will be wheelchair accessible.

At the stop, the driver will help by folding out the wheelchair ramp and can help you get on and off if needed. On buses with an electric ramp, you can board independently or with the help of a companion. On the bus or tram there is a designated wheelchair space with a seatbelt. Put your wheelchair brake on and make sure you are properly secured.

Traveling with a stroller

Strollers are very welcome on our buses and trams. The driver will gladly open the second door for you, which is specially designed for boarding strollers and buggies.

In the middle of the bus there is space for strollers and wheelchairs. Apply the brake on your stroller/buggy. If someone in a wheelchair needs this space, we kindly ask you to move or fold your stroller. In that case, please hold your child on your lap.

You don’t need to take your child out of the stroller or buggy. If your child stays seated, please remain nearby to prevent the stroller from sliding or tipping during the ride.

For your child’s safety and comfort, we recommend placing their head in the direction of travel when using a stroller. If you’re using a buggy, it’s safer for your child to sit with their back to the direction of travel.

Traveling with a mobility scooter

Unfortunately, mobility scooters cannot be transported on buses. They cannot be secured and may tip over during sharp turns. However, mobility scooters can safely travel on our trams.

Traveling if you are hard of hearing or deaf

All our buses and trams have clear information screens so you can always see the next stop.

Some buses also have an induction loop. If you use a hearing aid, switch your aid to 'T’ or 'loop’ and you’ll hear announcements clearly without background noise.

Traveling with an assistance dog

Your assistance dog is, of course, welcome on our buses. To make the journey more pleasant for both you and your dog, some buses have a special space for assistance dogs: directly behind the driver, near the entrance. Thanks to folding seats, there is extra room for your dog to sit.

Traveling with an electric wheelchair

We want everyone to travel safely and comfortably. For electric wheelchairs, the following guidelines apply:

  • Maximum combined weight of wheelchair and user:250 kg
  • Maximumdimensions: length120 cm, width70 cm, height109 cm
  • The wheelchair must be secured with a seatbelt for safe transport

We adhere to these guidelines, but we understand it can be difficult to check the exact measurements. Therefore, all wheelchairs are welcome as long as they can be transported safely. We kindly ask that you respect the final decision made by our drivers.

Traveling with a walker

If you travel with a walker, apply the brake and use the seatbelt or locking system (available on some city buses). This keeps it secure during the ride. If a passenger with a wheelchair needs the space, they have priority. Position the walker so there is enough room for others to pass so we can ensure a pleasant and safe journey for all passengers on board.

Traveling if you are visually impaired or blind

We want everyone to travel easily and safely with us. If you are visually impaired or blind, we are happy to help. You can count on:

  • Stop announcements on all our buses and trams
  • Tactileguide linesat many stops, with clear markings forthestart and end
  • Brightly colored handrails and poles in vehicles for easy visibility
  • NaviLensApp:With this free app, you can scan special colorful codes at our stops and platforms. These QR-like codes are located on the stop sign or poster.Youdon’tneed to aimprecisely, the app recognizes the code from several meters away.

The app provides clear spoken information about your location, the line, and when the next bus or tram departs. This way, you can travel independently and confidently without reading signs or asking for help.
