Roadmap: What should I do if I receive a new payment card from the bank?

If your payment card expires (soon) you should receive a new payment card from your bank. Or you will receive it because your old payment card was broken and you applied for a new one. After receiving your new payment card, follow the step-by-step plan below to make the switch to your new card as easy as possible.

I already have a travel product on my payment card

  1. Wait to activate: Wait to activate your new payment card. There may still be an active travel product on your current payment card or you may still be in the middle of your discount cycle with U-OV Max. It is currently not yet possible to transfer your travel product to a replacement or new payment card.
  2. Activate payment card: Activate your new payment card when your travel product on the old payment card has expired or your discount cycle has ended. Then follow your bank's instructions to activate the payment card.
  3. Take a ride first: Take a public transport ride with your new payment card on the bus.
  4. Add your payment card in MyU-OV: A day after you travel with your new payment card for the first time, a debit will take place from your bank account. Using that debit, you can add your payment card in MyU-OV or the U-OV app. You do this using the reference number and the amount debited. You can find this information in your online banking environment. The reference number is a combination of letters and numbers starting with NLOV, followed by 14 numbers and letters (for example: NLOVB85YYB4E9XM5VF).
  5. Purchase travel product: Then purchase your travel product again through MyU-OV or the U-OV app, you can now add it to your new payment card.
