Travel all day for a maximum of €5

If you travel with U-OV using your debit card, credit card or OV-pas between 21 September and 20 November 2026, a maximum fare of €5 per day will automatically apply instead of €10. Are you aged 12 to 18 and have you linked your age to your pass? Then you will pay a maximum of €3.25 instead of €6.50 per day. We are doing this because of the cancelled services and delays in recent times.

Please note: this offer only applies when you travel with OVpay. Are you travelling with an OV-chipkaart? Then this offer does not apply.

How it works
During the offer, you will never pay more than €5 per day if you:

check in and out with the same debit card, credit card, mobile device or new OV-pas;
always check in and out;
do not miss a check-in or check-out;
travel on U-OV buses and trams.

Are you aged 12 to 18? Link your age to your debit card, credit card or OV-pas. During this offer period, you will then pay a maximum of €3.25 per day.

Now even better value
With U-OV Max (day), you normally pay a maximum of €10 per day. During this offer period, we are reducing this amount to €5 per day. Have you travelled for €5 on a day? You can then travel free with U-OV for the rest of the day. This gives you an automatic 50% discount on the daily maximum.
For young people aged 12 to 18, the reduced daily maximum of €3.25 (instead of €6.50) applies if they have linked their age to their pass.

No. For U-OV Max, only trips made with the same card will be tallied up. A physical card and a mobile card are not the same, even if they’re linked to the same bank account.

U-OV Max is valid on all U-OV daytime lines, from the start to the end of service. Night lines are not included. U-OV Max is valid on lines 90 and 395 operated by U-OV, but not with Qbuzz.
Yes. You must always check in and out, even if you’re travelling for free for the rest of the day. Otherwise you may receive a fine.
You don’t need to activate anything. If you always check in and out with the same payment card, U-OV Max (day) works automatically.
No. At the end of the day, your rides are calculated up to a maximum of €5,- (during the promotional period) and then debited from your account.

To add an OVpay product to your child's (digital) payment card, first make a trip with that (digital) card. Use the payment reference of that trip to validate your payment card. The following steps:
- Step 1. Go to mijn.u-ov.nl and click Request Account. If you already have a U-OV account, go to mijn.u-ov.nl and proceed to step 5.
- Step 2. Fill in your details, accept the terms, and click Next.
- Step 3. Complete your information. When done, click Create Account.
- Step 4. Your request is confirmed. We sent you an email. Click the link in that email to confirm your account.
- Step 5: Log in and go to your Profile Data. Here you can add a profile for your child. Fill in your child's details.
- Step 6. Then choose Add Card.
- Step 7. Indicate whether you have already traveled with the (digital) payment card on which you want to add the travel product. You'll use the payment reference from that trip shortly to validate your payment card.
- Step 8. Enter the details of the trip you made with your (digital) payment card. The trip can be at most 30 days old. You can find these details on your bank statement. The payment reference always starts with ‘NLOV’. Use it along with the trip price to validate your payment card. If you traveled with both your physical and mobile card, make sure to select the correct payment number. When done, click Add Payment Card.
- Step 9. Your (digital) payment card is now in your account! You now automatically travel for up to €10 per day on all U-OV buses and trams. If you travel less, you pay less. Want to add more products? Click Products.
- Step 10. Click Order now on the desired product.
- Step 11. Name your payment card and agree to the terms. Then click Confirm Order.
- Step 12. Check your details and click Confirm Order.
- Step 13. You will receive a thank you for activating the product.
You don't need to activate anything. If you always check in and out with the same payment card, it works automatically.
